FarmFolk/CityFolk Society

FarmFolk/CityFolk, for almost 15 years, has been working towards a sustainable food system for British Columbia. From protecting farmland to supporting farmers and producers to connecting farm and city communities with education, communication and celebration, we often work in partnership with other organizations.

FarmFolk/CityFolk also offers a variety of events that connect farm and city. Their Incredible Edible Tours offer folks chartered bus transportation, a fun and knowledgeable tour guide, a minimum of 3 in-depth farm tours, a fresh delicious lunch made from regional ingredients and of course, opportunities to buy farm gate sales. Visit their Events webpage for more information about Incredible Edible Tours.

Our Seasonal Sustainability Series are small, community-based educational events that often feature dinner, a film, expert speakers and some very interesting conversation. Feast of Fields, FarmFolk/CityFolk's annual fundraising events (Vancouver Island, Lower Mainland and Sea-to-Sky) bring together farmers and chefs and vintners and food artisans to offer guests an
amazing feast of the best of BC. Our Feasts take place every year in August and September. www.feastoffields.com

Through our BC Seed Security project, our work with our project team and with seed producers throughout British Columbia, has created a database of organic seeds, suitable for our various bioregions, which are produced here in our province. We have also produced a "Small-Scale Organic Seed Production" booklet, written by Patrick Steiner of Stellar Seeds. For more
information about our seed project, please visit http://bcseeds.org

We are also working in partnership with The Land Conservancy of BC to offer alternative forms of farmland tenure with our Community Farms project. The Community Farms Program aims to expand local food production in BC by helping new farmers access affordable land; researching the best practices of existing collectively-owned farms, and creating a network of potential
farmers, landowners, and community organizations. By bringing these parties together to share their experiences and knowledge, the program will create alternative agricultural models that can be replicated throughout British Columbia. For more information about Community Farms, please visit FarmFolk/CityFolk's PROGRAM webpage.

Get Local, partnered with the Vancouver Farmers Market, is FarmFolk/CityFolk's "eat local" project. We encourage you to visit the various pages of this website to learn why it is so important to eat local and to find the ways and means to do so.

At FarmFolk/CityFolk, we believe it is the connection between farm and city, producer and consumer, grower and eater that creates sustainable communities. FarmFolk/CityFolk is based in Vancouver but also has offices in Langley and Victoria.
